Descrizione
English for Academic Purposes (EAP) is an activity at the forefront of language education today, and this book attempts to introduce the main features of its theory and practice in an accessible and systematic way. This contribution provides advanced English language learners with a useful introduction to the basic practices in reading and writing for academic purposes. It includes topics such as the typical content of article abstracts, the mechanics of citation and referencing, and some uses of sources in writing – topics that will help students, studying in an English medium university for the first time, to meet their tutors’ expectations in reading and writing assignments. It will be particularly useful for students preparing IELTS or any other examination aimed at assessing whether the candidates’ English is at a high enough level to study in an academic institution where English is the medium of instruction.
